We use these books to practice with our kids; they seem quite fund of them and they say they would like to have more.Great for helping your child read at home. The books are leveled according to Guided Reading Levels so you can choose appropriate books for your child's level. Not sure why this is labeled a toy. I can tell you right now that it is very much an educational tool. A friend of mine purchased a set of these books for me to read with my kindergartener. We have so many books in our at home library that I discounted them at first, figuring they would just get lost in the shuffle, but after watching my child read and enjoy these little books over the scores of other titles on the bookshelf, I happily eat my words. He was struggling for so long with basic worksheets and other picture books but I think these books are easier for him to focus on. The words are clean and easy to read. The illustrations are colorful and relevant and there are few distractions. Our favorites are "A Day on the Farm" and "Too Slow for Little Cat." I am going to purchase more for summer reading.I read these books with several 5-year olds. They loved the incredible photos and the stories were leveled just right for early readers so they felt good about their reading. Tons of information to help teachers and parents do educational, fun activities after the books, too. Each book tells you which vocabulary words the kids are learning in each book, which was also really helpful. Gorgeous, fun, and modern- would definitely buy more!I bought these books for my daughter's sixth birthday and couldn't be happier with my purchase. She was immediately drawn to the exciting and high quality photographs. The leveling technique in each book helps me to keep track of her reading progress. I've never seen a kid so excited to read!My nephew loved these books! The pictures were great and the real life topics that were discussed in the books really hit home. I definitely would recommend these, two thumbs up!
