Description
This is the Apocrypha from the old King James Version and it contains all 14 of the Apocryphal books. The Apocrypha is also known as "the deuterocanon", "hidden books" and "secret writings". The table of contents for this book not only shows the page that each of these works begin on, but it also shows the number of their chapters in each of the apocryphal books. The Apocrypha was written about 400 years before Christ and Christianity which was hundreds of years before Roman Catholicism. Over 1,000 years before what we call Protestantism. It’s like the Old Testament that was written BC - before Christ - it’s Jewish. And so, it documents the history of what happened to the Jewish people just before Christ came. And it was part of the scrolls, and the temple. It may have been part of Jesus’ bible. When He walked the earth as a human, He went into the temple to read from the scrolls. He would have had the Old Testament and maybe the Apocrypha. The Apocrypha was published in the original 1611 King James Bible. These Apocryphal books were positioned between the Old and New Testament. The Apocrypha was a part of the KJV for 274 years until being removed in 1885 A.D.Apocrypha is a plural word (singular: apocryphon) that originally denoted hidden or secret writings, to be read only by initiates into a given Christian group. It comes from Greek and is formed from the combination of apo (away) and krytein (hide or conceal). The history of the these books show that were at first prized, later tolerated, and finally excluded. Here's why you won't find the Apocrypha in Protestant Bibles today...1. Not one of the apocryphal books is written in the Hebrew language (the Old Testament was written in Hebrew). All Apocryphal books are in Greek, except one which is extant only in Latin.2. None of the apocryphal writers laid claim to inspiration.3. The apocryphal books were never acknowledged as sacred scriptures by the Jews, custodians of the Hebrew scriptures (the apocrypha was written prior to the New Testament). In fact, the Jewish people rejected and destroyed the apocrypha after the overthrow of Jerusalem in 70 A.D.4. The apocryphal books were not permitted among the sacred books during the first four centuries of the real Christian church.5. The Apocrypha contains fabulous statements which not only contradict the "canonical" scriptures but themselves. For example, in the two Books of Maccabees, Antiochus Epiphanes is made to die three different deaths in three different places.6. The Apocrypha includes doctrines in variance with the Bible, such as prayers for the dead and sinless perfection. "Apocrypha - that is, books which are not regarded as equal to the holy Scriptures, and yet are profitable and good to read." ~Luther

As a spiritual person, I have always looked for anything that was written about what it means to be a man of God. When I heard there were lost books I had to have them. Now after reading, I am honestly a little confused. They have opened my eyes to a whole new field of study. Looking for the relationships between the King James and the lost books is now my current field of study. Fascinating!
